Unicef apparently did not sponsor a concert in Uzbekistan, staged last October, that included a gig by Desert Rose composer Sting. An article in The Guardian , quoting Lost in Showbiz, says that Unicef wasn’t involved and the organization is quoted as being "quite surprised" by Sting’s claim.
Sting allegedly received between £1m and £2m for the show.
Let's assume hypothetically that Unicef does want to sponsor an artist... HOW can anybody accept a fee running into millions of pounds from The United Nation's Childrens Fund ???

I need a HOT cuppa!
Haven't had my morning cuppa as yet... which is probably why I'm still not AWAKE! I'm at the Asia Journalism Fellowship training workshop this morning. We're sitting in the MMC room at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at NTU.
